What Does a Hymenoplasty Procedure Consist Of?
A hymenoplasty consists of repairing the torn hymen remnant to restore an intact hymen. If the remnant hymen tissue is not sufficient, a new hymen can be created with vaginal tissue. A physical examination by Dr. Azzi will determine the ideal approach for you.
Absorbable sutures are placed inside the vagina and there are no visible scars.
Intercourse must be avoided for 6 to 8 weeks after surgery.
Pain and bleeding with intercourse or insertion of a tampon are to be expected following surgery.
