Otoplasty Surgery Procedure in Montreal

Otoplasty

What is an otoplasty?

Otoplasty, also known as ear pinning surgery, is a cosmetic surgery that aims to correct protruding ears. The objective of this procedure is to bring the ears closer to the scalp and correct protruding ears.

Who Is the Ideal Candidate for Otoplasty?

You may be an ideal candidate for otoplasty if:

  • You are self-conscious about the size or the shape of your ear
  • Your ears are not symmetrical, and you feel bothered about their appearance.
  • You’re dissatisfied with a previous ear surgery

What does an otoplasty procedure consist of?

An ear pinning surgery is usually carried out under local anesthesia. During the procedure, the plastic surgeon will make a small incision, on the back of the ear.

Then, several sutures will be placed in the cartilage to reshape the ear. If other ear deformities are present, excess cartilage/skin of the outer ear might have to be removed.

Once this is done, a dressing will then be applied to allow for proper healing of the sutures, and the incision.
