What is upper lid blepharoplasty?
An upper eyelid blepharoplasty, also known as an upper eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that aims to revitalize one’s facial appearance. This is done by countering the effects that aging has on the eyelids.
With age, the upper eyelid skin starts naturally drooping, and starts to form wrinkles. The objective of an eyelid lift, is to remove excess sagging skin from the upper eyelid and restore a youthful appearance. This procedure, however, does not correct wrinkles on the forehead or wrinkles appearing in the corner of the eyes (see neuromodulators for treatment of wrinkles).
Ideal Candidate for Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty
The ideal candidate for upper blepharoplasty should be a healthy non-smoker, who has:
- Excess loose skin of the upper eyelid
- Excess fat deposits around the upper lid, making the eye appear puffy
- Fine wrinkles or redundant skin on the upper eyelid
What Does an Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty Consist of?
During an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, the surgeon makes an incision on the natural crease of the upper eyelid. The incision starts near the inner corner of the eye, and ends in the outer corner of the eyelid. Once the incision is made, the surgeon will then remove excess skin of the upper lid.
Depending on your individual needs, Dr. Alain Azzi will also remove fatty deposits of the upper eyelid, if necessary. The final scar is concealed in the upper eyelid crease and is hardly visible after it heals.

How Much Does an Upper Eyelid Surgery Cost?
The average cost of an eyelid lift generally depends on the treatment plan that is developed. Various other adjunctive procedures, such as a face lift, or a lower eyelid blepharoplasty, may impact the final cost.
During the initial consultation, Dr. Alain Azzi will perform a physical exam and will discuss your specific needs. A member of our patient care coordination department will subsequently provide you with pricing information, concerning the cost of an Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty in Montreal.
